Scottish Tumble Championships 2015

Bishopbriggs Acro Gymnastics Club had their most successful outing to date at the Scottish Tumble Championships on Saturday 7th March 2015 at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility.  Over forty of the club’s gymnasts participated in the event and returned with an impressive medal haul.

There was lots of success at club level with bronze medals for Eilidh McGonigle and Chloe Traynor.  Megan Freel, Brooke Peddie, Sophie Hamilton, Mia Gribbon and Eva McGinley won silver medals and the club has two new Scottish champions at club level with Ellie Barnes and Maria Murphy both winning gold medals.

The club’s elite tumblers demonstrated their power, speed and skill on the track with several notable performances throughout the day.  Keavy Diamond won bronze in her first tumbling competition and Becky Daly and Hollie Freel added their own bronze medals to the collection.

Anna Begen, Beth Diamond, Amy Hulmes, Holly Mardle, Lily Begen and Mollie Gaughan performed impressively to secure silver medals and their places at the British semi-finals later this year in Sheffield and Peterborough.

Amy Gibson and Christina Hill added to the medals with excellent tumble runs to secure top spot on the podium as Scottish champions.  They will be travelling to the British semi-finals later in the year.  The last gold medal of the day was won by Ellie Lavy who produced three outstanding tumble runs to make it through a very tough category and become Scottish Champion.  Ellie will travel with the rest of the gold and silver medallists who competed at national level to take on the very best tumblers in the UK in the coming months.

The coaches would like to congratulate all the gymnasts who participated in the Scottish Tumble Championships and wish those travelling south later in the year the very best of luck.
