Congratulations to all the gymnasts who took part in the Scottish NDP and FIG Finals today.
Hazel Howat and Dani Thomson competed in G1 WP after qualifying for the finals with a score of 24.799. Both girls performed superbly today and were extremely unlucky to be be squeezed out of the medals and into 4th place due to a joint 2nd position in this category. They achieved an exceptional score of 26.016 which would have earned them a medal in any previous Scottish Championships.
In G2 WG the club had two partnerships competing and the trio of Emma Owen, Fiona Glen and Codie McInally were the first of the two trios to take to the floor. The girls performed impressively to achieve a score of 24.80 which was significantly higher than their score in the prelims. Their performance was good enough to win them the bronze medal in this category. Laura Mcmillan, Sarah Finlay and Holly Kelly also improved on their performance in the prelims to gain a score of 25.383 which was a whole mark higher than their score two weeks ago. A combination of solid technical work and excellent choreography resulted in Laura, Sarah and Holly claiming silver medals. Well done to both G2 WG!
The club has enjoyed considerable success at the Scottish Championships this year with medals in both acro and tumbling and we are working towards building upon this success to achieve even better results next year. These results would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of the gymnasts so congratulations, girls and keep up your hard work. Well done, girls!!!!!!
